Steel slag is produced from the further refining of iron in a Basic Oxygen Furnace or from melting recycled scrap in an Electric Arc Furnace.
Both processes produce a slag which is hard and durable, suitable for use in bound or unbound form and is particularly recom-mended for use in asphalt. Steel slag can also be used for clinker manufacture and as a fertiliser and soil improvement agent.
